In response to Mr. Wings the Clown's letter, we would like to explain to your readers a little more about CIRCA, and why we are clowns. Rebel Clowning has a long tradition (Dario Fo even won a Nobel Prize for it). CIRCA itself was started by real trained clowns who went to clown school in the UK, hoping to escape from circus tents and kids' parties and reclaim the art of Rebel Clowning.

What else can one be in such a stupid world, where 700 innocent deaths in Lebanon are "measured" and where a peacekeeping Canadian army has 59 personnel dedicated to UN missions and over 2 300 to offensive action in Afghanistan? We are clowns because fools are both fearsome and innocent, wise and stupid, entertainers and dissenters, healers and laughing stocks, scapegoats and subversives. We do not take clowning lightly, and recognize its subtle and not so subtle powers.

Of course, we know when we have been bested in buffoonery. It is the Canadian government - and not us - who have pulled the wool over Canadians' eyes and deceived our brave soldiers into making war in the name of peace.

In response to the letter by Mr. Wings the Clown (Aug. 9th), we would like to explain to Free Press readers a little more about CIRCA, and why we are clowns.

First of all, CIRCA was started by real, trained clowns in the UK, who reclaimed the art of Rebel Clowning after escaping from the boring safety of the circus and the banality of kids parties.

More importantly, we are clowns because what else can one be in such a stupid world where 700 innocent deaths in Lebanon are "measured" and where a supposedly "peacekeeping" Canadian army has only 59 personnel dedicated to UN missions and over 2, 300 to offensive action in Afghanistan?

Of course, we know when we have been bested in buffoonery. It is the Canadian government - and not us - who have pulled the wool over Canadians' eyes and deceived our brave soldiers by claiming they are peacekeeping in Afghanistan, not war-mongering.
